Work Training Crew Makes Impact at APS
Each week, Quality Connections members Donna and Jonathan arrive at APS with their Job Coach, Malaki Bailey, ready to work.
As part of Quality Connections’ Work Training Crews, they clean restrooms, mop and sweep common areas, dust, and on certain days, clean the linemen’s trucks.
For a busy regional utility company, these tasks are essential but time-consuming. The Work Training Crew provides a practical solution.
And, according to Danielle Harris of APS, they deliver much more than clean facilities.
“The Quality Connection team brings more than excellent service to our office, they bring smiles and positivity,” she said. “They are always friendly, professional, and a joy to have around. Their cleaning skills are outstanding. Their smiles and kind attitudes truly brighten our workplace, and the care they put into their work is evident every time they are here.”
A Win-Win Partnership
Through the Work Training Crew program, teams of individuals with disabilities are hired by local businesses to perform tasks such as janitorial work, yard maintenance, and other light labor.
What makes the program work so well for employers? Quality Connections provides on-site supervision, so businesses like APS don’t have to manage the workers directly. Quality Connections handles all wages, insurance, and benefits, while ensuring quality work gets done.
For crew members like Donna and Jonathan, these jobs offer something invaluable: the opportunity to build work-related skills that increase their chances of long-term employment and greater independence.
The partnership at APS demonstrates how businesses can support the disability community while addressing their own operational needs—creating opportunities that benefit everyone involved.
